Stacy Bols Running Contact Foundation (At Your Own Pace DIY Self-Study)

The Master the Course at Your Own Pace: DIY Self-Study - A flexible, budget-friendly choice for independent learners, with the option to upgrade to the VIP Experience anytime. BONUS 3 weeks of Coaching & Video Review.

With instructor Stacy Bols, training foundations for a running contact is fast, fun and addictive for both the dog and handler!

When it comes to running contacts, the foundation can make or break the final product. In this course, you'll focus on developing that super solid foundation, and have a clear understanding of criteria so that your team's future progression to full contacts will be seamless and easy.

In this online training, Stacy provides:

  • A customized progression plan for each working team.
  • Personalized coaching & feedback on your videos and questions throughout course.
  • Lessons specifically created for at-home, small space areas.
  • Training designed for your dog's physical safety, with on-the-flat exercises and without contact equipment.
  • A clear understanding of your dog's criteria during motion.
  • Critical handler skill-development exercises and techniques to visually identify and consistently reward motion-based criteria.

This program's content is designed for 12-weeks of training and is appropriate for any dog 4-months old and up. Upon successful completion of the Running Contact Foundation, the next course would be either the RC Dog Walk or RC A-Frame course.

It is helpful, but not necessary, if your dog already understands driving to the remote food machine and/or to a stationary toy.

In this course you will:

  • Add motion.
  • Build drive.
  • Promote criteria-based thoughtfulness.
  • Introduce directional cues.
  • Promote forward focus.
  • Ensure your dog has a clear understanding before introducing a plank.

BONUS: In the last lesson you will introduce your dog to a plank! This lesson is optional.

What you'll need for this course:

  • Non-slip mat that is any contrasting color (except yellow) from the surface it's placed on. For example, a non-slip bathtub mat is simplest, but several options may be used for class.
  • A way to secure the mat (options are discussed in the course).
  • Vet wrap for hind legs (this is a great tool that is discussed in the course).
  • 2 wings from a jump or cones.
  • A manners minder/remote trainer.

Items needed for the BONUS lesson:

  • For small dogs, a 6' long x 12" wide plank (a longer plank, a dog walk/ teeter plank with softened edge can also be used).
  • For large dogs, a 10-12' long x 12" wide plank  (a longer plank, a dog walk/ teeter plank with softened edge can also be used).

What People Are Saying:

My initial goal was to get both dogs to stay in the poles. The course has WAY exceeded that goal, as i can actually handle the obstacle after the weaves to help my dogs navigate the course. I really did not think that was possible with my dogs (nor did I realize how critical it was to give my dogs that information before this course).... The feedback was key. Watching feedback for the entire class taught me a lot, and analysis of my videos especially helped when I really did not know what I could be doing better.

I wanted to just drop you a note and say THANK YOU, for offering the Weaves that WOW class earlier this year. Oliver made his agility debut this past weekend and his weaves did WOW. He nailed every one, even one really didn't think he would (hard entry I had not practiced for). That class made all the difference and gave us a great foundation for weaves!! Thanks again!

Carol Seastrunk

I have known Stacy for quite a while now but had not trained with her until the weave class in Feb/March 2022. I saw a post for her weave class and talked to her at a trial about the problems I had been having with Kiwi my 2yo Sheltie so I could see if the class might help us. I am not a brand new trainer and I knew there are many different ways people train weaves.I had tried channels and 2X2s. Anytime the picture changed to a more closed channel Kiwi just would wander around the poles like she had no clue what was going on despite being able to drive through an open channel. Stacy said she thought she could help so we signed up. I couldn't be more delighted with the class and the progress we made. She managed to figure out each step of the method very quickly in only a few short sessions and we were weaving 4-6 poles super quickly once we got to that point and 12 poles also happening really quickly. Due to the step by step process that is used, Kiwi also is able to get some pretty difficult entries which surprises me considering the trouble I was having before the class. Kiwi went through Novice and Open in AKC rather quickly. Stacy's feedback is helpful and prompt and the lessons are very easy to understand and implement. I was super happy with Stacy's class especially since I was getting Kiwi had zero understanding with other methods that work for many many dogs.

I can't tell you how much I enjoyed the course. Stacy was great!! She is a good instructor and I really learned a lot from her. Hopefully, I will be able to sign up for more. For now we are working a different type of program!!! Thank you for developing such supper well thought out content.
